F1 is Here!

For those of you who care, the Formula One races begin tomorrow!!!....and the Ministry of Information has prepared for it

From today's GDN:

Information Ministry gears up for F1

THE Information Ministry will put all available resources at the diposal of Formula One organisers to give round-the-clock coverage to fans, said Information Minister Dr Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar.

The Ministry is fully prepared to cover Formula One events that will begin tomorrow, the minister said in a statement to the BNA.

As part of its plan the ministry's foreign media department in co-operation with the PR department has set up a media office at the airport in co-ordination with the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC).

Sounds good to me! Hope it all works out well and goes smoothly. I've only ever attended the F1 once and it was interesting at best!..Different strokes for different folks i guess. Nevertheless, I have always found that "third world countries" always put on the best shows and organize amazing events (ie: Qatar, Dubai, Bahrain, the Philippines etc) because of this need to impress and be accepted amongst the upper ranks. Good on them!

Best of Luck,

Peluqa

Heh! At the very least, wonderland has a better grid and pit area than the circuit in the UK.. though it's just sad that the BIC facilities are under-used *pouts* and their marketing campaign needs to really drive forwards a clear branding message.. but there's still a long way to go *winks*

I guess its hard to undertake the branding of a race track..but being the most technologically adavnced F1 race track in the world, you'd thinkg they'd attract more international events. I guess for a country as small as Bahrain it takes much effort to get things like this arranged and preparing for it once a year is more than enough. They do have local sporting events and some other smaller international races that go on in Bahrain...something to do with BMW and also a driving school run by BMW if im not mistaken...

That must be the BMW Performance Center, Miss. *smiles*

Reliable and efficient logistics is just one of the issues that have come up in the past when trying to bring the international gigs to wonderland *grins* That and the extent to how effective is commercial gain to local enterprises.

At present there isn't really a process or set of processes to measure the success of an event at the circuit from all perspectives.. some of the information out there on current figures lack accuracy and transparency.. the whole bandwagon of F1 enthusiasts sitting on the board need to open up some more to the public and youth in terms of getting what it takes to roll out a fine flow of international gigs lined up all throughout the year.

W/we're anyways going to see that happening when the Emirates slot in their F1 races and then hopefully, some of the folks in wonderland will wake up. *always good to hope i guess*
